CECAFA & COSAFA collaborate to secure FIFA Council Representation
The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations CECAFA and the Southern Africa Football Associations COSAFA have announced their joint support for each other’s candidates in the upcoming FIFA Council elections. COSAFA President, Said Ali Said Athouman and CECAFA President, Wallace Karia issued a statement confirming their commitment to backing the two candidates from their respective regions.
COSAFA, representing 14 CAF member associations, has nominated Andrew Kamanga, President of the Zambia Football Association, while CECAFA, made up of 11 CAF member associations, has nominated Suleiman Waberi, President of the Djibouti Football Federation. Both Kamanga and Waberi have been declared eligible to stand by FIFA's Review Committee.
The collaboration between COSAFA and CECAFA highlights regional solidarity as both organizations aim to secure a place on the FIFA Council, with CAF having five available spots in the FIFA council.
