𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲-𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐲𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞.

Five people died on the spot following a road accident involving a lorry and two motorcycles at Nyametembe Bridge along the Migori-Isebania highway in Migori County Sunday night.

Eye witnesses claim that the lorry that was speeding lost control before hitting two riders carrying three pillion passengers, killing them on the spot. Among the people who perished in the accident were two teachers.

Confirming the incident, Kuria West sub-county police commander Reuben Bett said two riders and three pillion passengers perished while the driver of the lorry sustained injuries and is currently hospitalized. The sub-county police commander said the police are still investigating the cause of the accident. 

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), 4,282 people have lost their lives through road accidents between January and November 2024.
